After the ceremony, we made our way to Keys View, where you can literally see all the way to Mexico on a clear day. It’s one of my favorite spots for elopements in Joshua Tree.
They loved it so much, they wanted to read their vows again — and why not? The view was unreal, the sun was dipping perfectly behind the mountains, and the golden light made everything feel cinematic. One of those shots even became their favorite image of the day.

When the sun disappeared, I brought out my lanterns and lighting setup to shoot during blue hour — my favorite time of day to create those soft, surreal portraits.
Most photographers wrap up when the light fades, but I actually get hyped because that’s when my real artistic photos come out! With a pop of off-camera flash and a desert sky turning moody and pastel, we got those next-level, romantic shots you just can’t create during full daylight.

After the shoot, I airdropped a few behind-the-scenes photos to Emerald and Nick so they could relive the moment right away. Within 24 hours, I also sent sneak peeks — something I include for every couple to keep that post-elopement high going strong.
When they received their full gallery, they told me they were blown away. They even printed a few of their photos to use as welcome signs at their big wedding celebration later this year. Pretty cool full-circle moment.
